Month 9 Blog Update

I can’t believe a) It’s nearly Christmas, and b) I’m at my 9 month anniversary already! I feel like it’s been a good month, even though I’m not finding enough time to do things like regular link building and reading other blogs, but I’m just trying to tread water while the next few busy months pass in my job and property business. I have to be honest – it’s been hard at times making the blog a priority the last few weeks, but remembering my goals, my readers and what I’ve achieved so far always pulls me through.

Goals Achieved

I made it my goal to be making a steady amount of money (over $500/month) by the end of the year and in the last three months I have done this which is great! Things aren’t slowing down on the advertising front either, and both my Living In London site and Woman Seeks World are making more and more income each month, so I couldn’t be happier! It’s definitely great to have some financial breathing space and know that I could survive off my online income if I absolutely had to.

I look forward to spending more time making the blog better and better in the next 3-6 months and seeing just how far I can go with income.

Writing another eBook is on my list of things to do also, but at the moment I can’t commit enough time to do it justice, so after the New Year this will be my priority again.

Month 8 Stats

Traffic – 5,400 visits (Around the same as last month which isn’t too bad – my bounce rate is low and my comments are going up, so can’t complain! Hopefully things will start to pick up again soon.)

Link Building – This has definitely fallen by the wayside lately, but when I can I try to read other people’s blogs and comment. I’m looking forward to Christmas when I’ll have some more time to focus on this.

Content – I’ve been steadily posting 3 times per week now for a couple of months, and have managed to build up a large amount of content which I’m happy with. I think from now on I will be posting between 2-3 times each week. I don’t want to get into the habit of writing a post just because it’s a Wednesday if I’m not feeling like I have an interesting and informative topic. The last thing I want is for my readers to be bored, so from now on expect fewer posts each month, but hopefully well written and interesting ones!

Twitter Followers – 1,687

Facebook Fans – 529

RSS Subscribers – 165 (Still no luck with subscribers going up quickly – oh well, onwards and upwards!)

Alexa Ranking – 167,397 (Gone up slightly from last month, but overall I’m going in the right direction!)

Income – Another good month as I mentioned above – really pleased that I’m earning some steady income now! In the past month I have earnt $580 on the site – this has been from text link ads and banner ads. The advertisers are approaching me each week which is great – it just goes to show that if you focus your energy on making your blog as good as it can be, the money will start to trickle in!

About My Monthly Blog Updates

I wanted to start these monthly updates to hopefully help other bloggers out there just starting out or wanting some support in starting to monetize their site or growing it in some way. I certainly don’t claim to know it all, but I’m hoping that the lessons that I learn will be helpful and inspirational to others looking to make a living from blogging.

So, I think it’s fitting to put the question out there and see what you would find helpful to read about in these monthly updates – I will do my best to include it each month, so please let me know!
